Lifting your head towards the sky - or where it used to be - you are met with a confusing entanglement of branches, each one sprouting dark green leaves. This vicious natural creation strangled all the light that tried to shine through it's dense canopy, allowing only a measly amount barely enough for vision to peek through. The elves are adept at camouflaging their realm and after a day of wandering through the dim paths, your map has proven useless.
As if your exasperation had been their cue, the elven sentries finally removed themselves from their hiding spots like shadows detaching themselves from the darkness, their arrows pointed at you. Their clothes were of the characteristic earth tones that the silvan elves of mirkwood seem to prefer, however none of them were cloaked since they were familiar with these territories and the plants tend to cling stubbornly onto loose fabrics (a little something you have discovered yourself as well). From the knowing, slighly amused glint in their eyes, you can tell that your presence in the woodland realm has not gone unnoticed. One of the elves steps forth, his expression unreadable as he began speaking in the common tongue with a curious, lyrical accent, "You have intruded into the the realm of greenwood for reasons unknown to us, and although we will not attempt to force that out of you, it is required that you be brought before our rulers." There was an unmistakable hint of curiosity in his tone that he tried to mask with monotony. He motioned to one of the sentries who still had this bow raised and continued with feigned disinterest, "Cossídhon here, will lead you to the Royal Court of Eryn Lasgalen. I'd advise you to cooperate with us as we have sentries posted throughout the woods anyway, so any attempt to do so would prove futile." A soft ripple of musical laughter echoed among the elves present, betraying their maintained facades of indifference, and somehow the sound of their laughter relaxes you. And in the same manner that they appeared, the sentries faded back into the surrounding wood, leaving only the lithe Cossídhon - the elf with the beguiling smirk.
Your guide, who was clearly in a mischievous mood today, starts down the path without a warning and disappeared off it with no more than a hop to the right (or so it seemed) a while later. Having no other choice but to follow, you jogged after and spotted him standing by a bush that grew about some metres off the path, still wearing that annoying smirk of his. And so, the game of follow the leader continued for some time with Cossídhon making it painfully easy to follow him. It is hard to decide whether to appreciate or take offence at his helpfulness, perhaps it was somewhere in between. Finally, the game ends when the moss-covered entrance to the underground fortress which the wood elves called home came within sight. Keeping close to the elf now, you took a look around as your eyes adjusted to the light of the maze-like corridors. Cossídhon made a sudden turn to his left into a hall that had its heavy wooden doors thrown open in welcome and beckoned you to follow him. Seated on a raised dais, were the Queen and King of Greenwood - Thranduil and Lithlaewen, both surrounded by an air of nobility yet at the same time, there was this touch of mirth present on their features. Cossídhon smiles warmly (for once he did something that wasn't vaguely annoying) and whispers into your ear, "Well it was enjoyable guiding you here, even though no words were exchanged but I must leave you now and return to my duties. And fear neither Thranduil nor Lithlaewen, for they prefer lighthearted banter to stern lectures, just remember your manners and sense of humour. Farewell!" With that he departed, and left you in the royal court.About:This thread is for members who wish to become elves of Greenwood the Great, just take the pledge below and either Lith or Seles will respond to that. If you have any questions about greenwood, feel free to throw them at the rulers (just not too hard thank you). Also, post here if you're on official business to Greenwood. Rules:1] Remain IC at all times. 2] Your post should consist of at least four lines of text. Don't blame the spiders if your post "shrinks", we know that linguistics and related topics give them indigestion. 3] Please avoid colouring your text altogether, since most of the colours are reserved for admin and rulers 4] No OOCs allowed at all. May I recommend PMs for that? 5] Use italics for actions and standard text for dialogue, and include the pledge as part of your dialogue. 6] All members (regardless of race) are allowed to post in this thread, as long as they have reason to speak with the rulers. 7] Break any of these rules and we'll feed you to the spiders, at least someone's happy that way. Pledge:I, (name), pledge my loyalty to Greenwood the Great and swear never to betray her to her enemies under whatever circumstance. To this oath I would hold till the time comes for me to leave for the blessed realm, if should I hear the call of the sea or depart for Mandos's halls.

After the odd little elf guide had departed, Morgoth proceeded towards to king and queen. His steps were light, his feet clad with not the hard shoes of most from his lands, but of fine leather died to a beautiful royal purple tone. They hardly matched his outfit, and that's why he wore them, in fact. Smiling, the dark lord stopped walking when he was nary a few feet away from where the two rulers sat. Hello, dear King Thranduil and Queen Lithlaewen. I know you didn't expect me, but I wanted to visit your land. How goes it in your forest realm? He spoke with a soft voice, like waves breaking on white sand, a smile of some sort on his slim lips. He sat down on the floor in front of the first step, covering the ground with his earthy-colored cloak. Cross-legged, he looked at the rulers alternating between google-eyes and other silly faces to see what response they would bring from the noble duo....

Raising a single brow quizzically as Cossídhon showed an unexpected visitor in, namely Morgoth the former (recently ressurrected) Dark Lord, Thranduil turned briefly to face Lithlaewen for a moment as if to ask if she had sent this being an invitation to their kingdom without his knowledge. However, from the equally surprised expression that she had on her features when she returned his glance, it was obvious that this was not her doing either. Despite the fact that times were different and that perhaps the Morgoth was not here for some dark purpose, Thranduil was still unwilling to trust this shady character, especially when he chose to wear purple footwear into the court of the king! Anyone who does is either trying to humour the crowd, extremely audacious or deranged. In Morgoth's case, it was probably the latter two. Stiffling a chuckle that threatened to slip past his lips, Thranduil rose from his throne and greeted in a warm tone with a smile, as was required of him as king but inside, he felt this strong temptation to call the guards in, "Lord Morgoth! I bid you welcome to Eryn Lasgalen. Now tell me, what brings you thus far? It is quite unlikely for a ruler to wander past his territories unless on business. Greenwood fares well, for the fourth age has proven to an age full of opportunity and even the elves are subject to the changes predicted to come with these new times. We are rebuilding our kingdom, as we no longer see a need to hide underground like we once did." Noticing that he has not given Lithlaewen a chance to speak with his continuous ramble, he paused for a moment to turn his head about to face her with a smirk and began once more, "Perhaps Lithlaewen would like to elaborate on the changes to these woods? I believe she is dying for the spotlight right now anyway." Offering a hand to the queen, Thranduil stood patiently where he was for her to respond, sending a silent prayer to the valar that Lith would not choose to throw a diplomatic tantrum - as she once called it - at this present moment.

Lith frowned at Thranduil forcing her to speak, for she had always preferred to let him do the speaking, usually she'd just sit there and listen and only speak if she had to. Sighing, she stood up, purposely avoiding Thranduil's outstretched hand. She turned with a smile to the arrival who made the court seem much darker than it already was, "Good evening Lord Morgoth, what brings you here to our humble kingdom? Perhaps our spider problem has aroused your curiousity?" She grinned in a very un-queenish manner, trying her best not to giggle, "And yes, we are planning some new additions for Mirkwood, a winter feast to celebrate the coming of a new season, you are of course welcomed, provided you swear not to devour any elf there." She grinned wickedly, hoping that did not offend the visitor, "Oh! Do not forget to visit the Mirkwoodian Mailing talon, it is the only place we have managed to keep 'spider-free' so far. We are also writing up a guide to Mirkwood for the foolish ones who tend to get lost in our woods." Realising she had been going on for quite a while, she bent down to the still sitting Morgoth with a warm smile on her face, "I hope I did not bore you, please enjoy your stay in Greenwood, and feel free to approach us anytime should you have any queries." She bowed slightly before returning to her seat, again, carefully avoiding Thranduil's hand.

Need I any business to visit my great friends the elves? Or is it just that thou wanteth not my presence in thine wonderful kingdom? Morgoth asked the two rulers, hiding the grin that was threatening to break out on his face. A feast? Wonderful? I shall visit, provided that there is good food and drink. Mordor sometimes runs short on those, and it gets quite weary after a while... Warg is ever so stringy.. Ah, but to whom would I write to in your esteemed post office? Most would read the addressee and throw the letter away. But perhaps I shall eventually visit it, if only to better my knowledge of the workings of your kingdom. Smiling, Morgoth stood up, making to leave, dusting off his cloak. Am I the first to visit this hall? I smell no others.. Sniffing the air, the Dark Lord nodded, bowed to the rulers, and said I must go, my time is more limited than one would think. Feel free to visit me in Mordor or any of the Shadow Lands, but I doubt that that shall happen soon. So with that, I bid you farewell... Bowing again to the rulers of Greenwood, Morgoth turned and walked out of the hall, not needing an elven guide to find his way out of the forest. His purple shoes standing out against the relative darkness of the forest, it made the Dark Lord seem like a jester, or something along those lines. He sauntered away for a while, mounting a black steed that waited outside of the forest...

Ara followed the guide and as she stopped in the court she looked around in amazement.she bowed to the King and Queen and said:I have come to request the honor of joining this wise Kingdom.I Ara pledge my loyalty to Greenwood the Great and swear never to betray her to her enemies under whatever circumstance. To this oath I would hold till the time comes for me to leave for the blessed realm if should I hear the call of the sea or depart for Mandos's halls.and she bowed again.she was slightly confused but she knew this was what she wanted to do.this is the most wonderful place I've ever been..she thought.she knew her parents would have been proud of her had they been here to see it of course.

Lith's grumpiness melted away when she saw Ara coming into the Court, she smiled while she watched her take the oath, and at once got to her feet. Smiling warmly to Ara, "It is a blessing to have you Ara, and of course you may join our humble kingdom. I, Lithlaewen, declare you an elf of Greenwood."
She walked down to Ara, "Now that you're part of Greenwood, you have a responsibility. Keep the kingdom lively and contribute to it as much as you can. And never be afraid to approach us if you have any questions or new ideas. If you forget where the Court is, just call for Cossídhon, he knows the woods better than I know Thranduil." She grinned wickedly as she took Ara's hand, "Come, let me give you a personal tour, today is a quiet day and all is peaceful, so I doubt anyone will be coming to the Court today. However should they come, I'm sure Thranduil can manage them." She glanced to the King of Greenwood, hoping he would not object to her leave, without waiting for a reply, she pulled Ara out of the court...

Just as Morgoth turned to leave the court, another new face appeared at the doorway, seemingly coy, uncertain and very new to the kingdom. Yet all the same, in her eyes Thranduil could already see the interest for Mirkwood, and a slight hint of loyalty behind it. Smiling at the younger elf, Thranduil took a step towards her to welcome her into this fair realm, however he was intercepted by Lith, his queen, before he could spout a word. Following her quick flurry of words (just barely), Thranduil managed to catch on to the last bit about him managing the halls on his own. At this (probably his inner elfling), a part of him wanted to stomp and complain like the prince that he was before he ascended the throne. Instead he stood there helplessly, unable to form any sentences till Lith had dragged Ara out of the court. Sighing softly to himself, Thranduil sunk back into his throne and twiddled with his thumbs in a very un-kingly fashion while he waited for another being to enter his court. Apparently Lith - like all women - was extremely adept at throwing tantrums while masking them with the supposed task of welcoming a young one bourne out of good intentions...

Rising from this throne in greeting, Thranduil stepped off the raised dais as mannerism required him to when speaking to another ruler, or a Lady of her kingdom. Making a slight bow to Galadriel out of respect, as she was the elder whom some said had seen the light of the two trees of valinor before their destruction, and spoke, weaving his speech with cautious eloquence. "Mae govannen, Lady Galadriel, and thank you for making this journey to fair Greenwood though a simple letter would have sufficed. I'm sure Lorien griefs in your absence, my lady. How fares Celeborn in this new age?" Straigtening himself from the bow, he beckoned for Cossidhon to return to his duties while his king addressed his. Smiling, he awaited Galadriel's answer hoping that it would provide a clue of her current mood, whether she was in the mood for playful banter or in a seroius one, so that he could plan his next line.
(OOC - While I deal with my other account, I hope that you won't mind RPing with Manwë for the time being? *grins* It's just a temporary affair that I promise to sort out in Valinor.)

Ikali looked up at the Kind and Queen, her shyness showing. It had been hard following the guide, but she was impressed with the kingdom of Greenwood, though she was absolutly terrified of spiders. She was sure she would get used to them. She wanted to join the kingdom of Greenwood. 'I, Ikali, pledge my loyalty to Greenwood the Great and swear never to betray her to her enemies under whatever circumstance. To this oath I would hold till the time comes for me to leave for the blessed realm, if should I hear the call of the sea or depart for Mandos's halls.' After this was said she glanced around the room, unsure of what to do next.

The Lady Vaire smiled warmly at the young one who had entered, named Ikali
My dear, welcome to Greenwood. It would seem that our great rulers have been taken from us on urgent being for the meantime, but we are most happy to have you as a part of the kingdom. May your days be wonderful, and do not hestitate to ask any questions if you need to!
