As you explore the elaborate circuit of precarious rope bridges that criss-crossed the dense canopy of Greenwood linking the beautifully simple talans that formed the treetop city of Eryn Lasgalen, you stumble onto a talan just bustling with activity. Wood elves, as well as several birds (which were commonly utilised for the delivery of mail) were moving in and out from flet. By some feat of elven genius, the architecture that designed the talan had managed to figure a way around the laws of physics to keep the talan hidden in the treetops despite the enormous weight that it supported. Stepping a little deeper into the crowd, gathering a couple of annoyed stares from elves you had to shove aside to get through, you finally arrive at a counter - wooden like everything else you've seen so far with delicate detailing along the sides. Behind it, Wood elves were hurrying about carrying rolls of parchments and organising them into neat stacks for collection, while those wearing leather gloves that reached to the elbows were tending to a huge variety of weary, feathered errand runners that ranged from adorable balls of fluff to aggressive birds of prey (and perhaps the occasional sort that was an odd mix of the two).
An elf over the counter, who was frantically trying to separate an unfortunate sparrow from a peregrin falcon, managed to say before he was overwhelmed by his charges, "Are you here to collect your mail or to send mail?" At least now you have a rough idea of what to do here. Sighing as you took another look about for better clues, you spot a surprisingly quiet area that had a few tables lined up, with quills, bottles of ink and parchments waiting for use. On every desk, there was a message painted in silver against the dark surface of the table in two languages - westron and sindarin:
Rules:
1] Stay IC at all times. Likewise, all letters should be IC (in character). The elves of mirkwood aren't that advanced, we don't understand terms such as electricity, cellphones, internet, email etc.
2] Letters here are meant for Greenwood Elves only (ie. to elves of this kingdom).
3] Remember to include a paragraph of RPG before the letter. If you're the person sending the letter, indicate the bird used at least. If you're the person receiving the letter, please collect it.
4] Letters must be of an acceptable length (5 lines of text). Please don't trouble some poor feathered friend to fly ten miles just to deliver a note that reads 'Hi. How have you been?'
5] Your post should be in an acceptable letter format. Since mirkwoodians prefer to collect their own mail, all you need to do is bold the lucky elf's name at the top of your post.
6] If you're sending more than one letter, please seperate them with a line.
7] Absolutely no items to be attached to the letters. If you continue to insist that your bird has been "working out", we'll simply send it to the spiders for a fitness test.
8] Failure to meet these requirements would result in undelivered mail or as the case might be, death of your pet bird.
Extras:
Note that the Mirkwoodian Mail Service would not be held responsible for any pigeon mishaps, missing food items or lost mail. Chances are, a spider got to it before we did so blame them. As a extra feature, all mail recipients will be notified by PM, which would be the postmaster's job.
