As you wander along the paths of Mirkwood, apparently one that was not marked on the map but at least you have the comfort of knowing that all the paths of this elven realm would eventually lead to the to the forest river, the old forest road or perhaps even the Enchanted River - if you are heading in the right direction, that is. Fortunately enough, you were and in the distance you hear the distinct song of running water. Heading towards it, you stumbled onto a well-maintained path that seemed to stretch on in a straight line into the darkness, defenitely a welcome change from the paths that you had been wandering; winding little things that were overgrown with plants of all sorts, trodden down by clueless travellers much like yourself. Beside it, was a river with waters as black as ink and by this infamous river (whose waters were cursed with a sleep spell) was a bustling market-place. None of the shopowners though had their goods displayed facing you, instead they were turned towards the river, where elves navigated their boats skillfully through water. Seems now you need a boat, though not to worry, there should be a store nearby renting out these, now if only you could find it!
About this thread
Welcome to the marketplace of greenwood! Open throughout the day, and even into the night on special occasions, we guarantee that you can get anything here. If you came on a horse, fret not for there is a pasture further upstream where you can release your equine friend to the care of the elves. Obviously while here, you would require a vessel for transportation and there should be a kiosk close to these pastures where you can acquire one. Just a word of warning, do not (at any cost) touch the cursed waters for if you do, expect temporary loss of consciousness, memory and permanent loss of all purchases you have made, if your boat capsizes. Should someone fall in, please send the unlucky fellow to the healers' which should be close by. If you're interested in setting up a store, visit the Job Office and follow the instructions there. Till some of the stores find owners, they would be run by NPCs so that we have more than just one or two stalls, if you're interested in helping to manage any of these, please do register at the job office.
Rules
- This being an IC thread, remain IC at all times. OOCs attract the spiders and we (the rulers) do not like spiders as they attract Morgoth, who can be very messy sometimes.
- Posts should be at least three lines long. If unsure about how to achieve this amazing feat, keep typing till you fill up the text-box.
- Avoid god-moding. No capsizing other boats, unless you have that person's permission to do so. Either way you have to bump into that person's boat first.
- Respect NPCs (non-player characters) who help to run the stores
- State the name of the store at the top of your post (bold and/or underlined, if possible) so that we know where you are. If you're at some point in the river, just state 'on the river'.
- You may pay or barter for goods; bargaining's fine as long as tempers are kept under control.
- Anchor your boats to the poles sticking out of the water please, we don't want vessels drifting off into the sunset now, romantic as that sounds.
Shops
The Evergreen Pastures (managed by NPC-elf)
Came with a horse but don't know where to leave it till you are done shopping? Well, here's your solution! Leave the horse in the care of the elves where it can wander safely in the open pastures of fresh grass maintained by some sort of elven magic. Other services offered are grooming and sale of horses (if available).
Rent-a-Raft (managed by NPC-elf)
Slim, durable boats of typical elven workmanship available here for rent or sale! We offer a range of colours though we carry more grey ones in proportion to the other colours.
Expect the shops to be up soon! At the moment, Seles/Thranduil-the-sleep-deprived cannot produce any original shop ideas for consumers, but if you have any, please register your store at the job thread!
