Hey who here has read The Hobbit, and who here agrees that there should be a movie made after it. I loved reading that book, with the dwarfs and bilbo. Plus the Trolls. I foreget, did they turn in to stone or did they turn to powder, it has been a long time, i have to reread all the books. And How long do you think a movie about the hobbit would be

I have! I agree, it should be a movie, I think there was a play for the hobbit, but I dunno. I am Sure that the trolls turned into stone, not powder. The movie might go for a few hours, probably not as long as FOTR though

I have read the book several times. it would probably go on for a few hours if they did the entier movie by the book.but I think they should. I would like to see the forest of Mirkwood and the king of the elves.
Illuvatar Erkendorn edit=King of the elves, yes, but only the king of MIrkwood, Thranduil. Would like to see him

I haven't read all of the book, but know enough about it from my friends and references from the other movies to say that I can't wait to see the battle of the five armies and smaug, I'd like to see Thranduil, too.

Do you think that people who aren't crazy about Tolkien's work would appreciate a film of the Hobbit though? Wouldn't they laugh at the idea of talking trolls and dragons?

Oooh just the thought of them making The Hobbit to a movie would be exciting. The best part of course would be to see how they invented Smaugg the Dragon and as far as animated or robotic so to speak like with the shelob or dragons in TTT. How long should it be? Well at least 2 1/2 hours anyway. After seeing all 3 of the movies it would actually be a good thing to see the beginning.

I agree with Goldie, I would love to see the beginning of it all. The length of the movie, I think it could be a few hours long, but no more than 3. I'm quite entranced by Tolkien's work, but I don't think I could sit through a movie longer than 3 hours. The elements I'd most like to see would be Smaug, the Arkenstone, Mirkwood and Beorn. Fiwen- Even if people don't appreciate Tolkien's work, seeing these movies might inspire them to read the books, or even write their own. Billions of people across the planet have read the LotR books and seen the movies, and I don't see why this audience wouldn't be big enough to create the movie for. Think about it, many people enjoy Harry Potter, which involves fantasy elements. Even if they don't like talking dragons and trolls, they might like other parts of it. Even old mythology has rather un-real things, and people should realize that real life is oftentimes nowhere near as exciting as fantasy can be....

Id love to see it, probably easier to make than LOTR, much easier
I wish it would have come out before LOTR thought, oh well as long as its in the right hands

Actually Runyad, now that PJ has gone and changed a ton of things about LotR, it might be harder to film something that keeps everything the same. In that way, I do agree with you, The Hobbit should have been released before LotR. It just makes more sense. As for it being easier, perhaps. I am not a director, nor have I ever done a film anywhere on par with LotR, no matter what your opinion of it is. I actually think it might be harder, since dragons are probably rather hard to make realistic, and some of the scenes in there might be rather difficult. On the other hand, by the time they do get around to making it into a movie, perhaps the technology will be so advanced that movies take far less time to make... who knows?

A nice hearty bump brings it to the top and the Hobbit was good, but Lost Tales is far better to me.
