That's an interesting point. I mean, I don't mind, as long as they keep adding bits from the book, as the Mouth of Sauron was, although he wasn't killed. Tolkien is a bit evasive on this topic, and doesn't say much about him, although he says that he was a evil Numenorean.

hmm, I always thought it was a rather interesting part to put in the movie. In a way, it kind of spoiled that particular scene for me, sort of an unecessary swiping so to speak in what should have been quite a serious scene. Its almost as if Aragorn actually loses it for a moment *g*.

I suppose so, although I can't really imagine people who have not read the book being very satisfied that the Mouth of Sauron insults Aragorn, and then he doesn't do anything about it, to prove himself. Then again, the extended edition is really for those people who want to get more of the book and stuff, so it wasn't necessary. Did you notice that bit where the Evenstar broke when Aragorn was looking in the palantir? How could Arwen's vision, which was what could happen, be true then, as the son (Eldarion, I think), had the Evenstar?

not really spoilers anymore
I really didnt like how they killed Sauruman and Grima. The Scouring of the Shire is one of my most missed parts of the movie. Just another glory moment, for Legolas..
other than that EE was good

Well, Legolas didn't really have a charcter in any of the films, not as much as in the book. I feel he just existed to have a couple of moments in each film, to tag along with Aragorn and Gimli and be there for lots of girls to faint about. He was much better in the book, I feel. I agree that the Scouring of the Shire should have been put in. I think they filmed a bit of it, but it didn't make the EE.

Fiwen- I totally agree about Legolas, he was just a fan-girly character and a tag along..ur exactly right. Much better in the book. In the book he was wise, in the movies hes more of a "captain obvious"

ha, we could go on forever about Legolas and his antics as such *g*. No, the part where Saruman is killed is a little off, I thought for an EE, where they are really truly trying to please Tolkien fans, something else could have been done.
Fiwen, going back to your original question, good point! Its something I honestly have not seen and thus not thought about, I will go take another look and head back here soon!
