Some of us have seen it, others have not. Here is the thread to discuss the new/ extended scenes. Please do not open up any other threads regarding the EE, THIS ONE ONLY!
any threads found anywhere regarding ROTK EE will be deleted and posts moved here.
You have been warned, do not read on if you do not want to know what has been done to ROTK (I'm yet to see it either!)

Did anyone else think that the Saruman confrontation was totally great? It was my favourite of all the extended scenes, apart from the Pahs of the Dead and the Corsairs of Umbar, where Peter Jackson was shot. I laughed out loud so much at that bit.

I know! I was nearly crying. I loved the houses of healing song, it was so pretty. It took all of ten minutes to figure out the words and tune, too, but here they are for reference.
With a sigh You turn away With a deepening heart No words to say You will find That the world has changed forever And the trees are now turning from green to gold And the sun is now fading I wish I could hold you closer

I didn't know that it was Liv Tyler singing until I watched the music documentary, but it is such a beautiful song. At first I thought it was Miranda Otto, but then it wouldn't really make sense for her to sing. Have you seen any of the documentaries? Some of them made me cry as well, they were so sad at the end, especially the filming one. It's such a big project that it completely filled the lives of some people for almost 6 years, which is amazing or what?

No, I didn't know it was Liv Tyler, but I thought that it was Miranda Otto, too. I haven't seen the documentaries (I had to secretly borrow a friends) but I heard they were really good.

You should definitely see the documentaries. Maybe you could persuade that kind friend of yours to lend out the DVD again, and watch it. I haven't seen any of the commentaries yet, but I am going to soon.

*evil grin* I would, but... sigh. I promised that I would go buy it myself(actually, he's been bugging me because I don't have it yet) I love the part in Pellenor fields where Theoden sees Eowyn and somehow knows it's her, but then the witchking comes. I also like when she's trying to get away from the pink orc, and Aragorn and Gimli cut him down. (Eowyn's my fav)

Yeah, Eowyn has a really great character, and also some really brilliant costumes. The bit where she fights the pink orc (I think his name's Gothmog, at least that's what they say in the documentary) is great, and also where she attacks the Mumakil. Eowyn and Aragorn are my favourite characters in the whole story of lotr, and I love that scene in Edoras where she has the dream of Numenor, and tells Aragorn about it. ('I saw a great wave ...' etc)

Yep. I think they took that bit from the part in the book where Faramir and Eowyn are wondering what is happening at the Black Gate after everyone has set out, and Faramir says that the situation reminds him of Numenor (Book VI). It's a really great bit in the film, as obviously Aragorn realises she has dreamt of Numenor.

wow.... *shock* I guess I need to read the books again... I liked the part where Legolas and Gimli have a drinking contest, and Legolas is like... I thinkit's affecting me.

Yeah, and then Gimli is chuckling, 'He can't hold his liquor', and then he topples backwards of his chair, which is hilarious. I love the way Legolas is just so relaxed, and I wonder how on earth he managed to keep a straight face. I would have burst out laughing!!!

*Joins in giggling just imagining it * Yeah, I bet they could have a whole DVD of bloopers from all three films. I bet they had to shoot Merry and Pippin's dance quite a lot. I can imagine them falling off the table. Didn't you really like the Mouth of Sauron bit, where he's all evil and then Aragorn kills him? The mouth was disgusting though, with all those cracks of blood.

well, I guess they aren't spoilers anymore! *g*
Hmm, yes the houses of healing was lovely, and the little bits of Faramir and Eowyn a nice touch.
The mouth of Sauron, wow, we could go on forever discussing that, do you think it was really necessary to show that? perhaps a symbol of something?
