With one peering eye, It can capture everything it see's, Without the use of arms of legs, A simple snap is all it needs.
Ok, another awful one (sorry) and it is NOT ME related. It's a modern day thing.

Oh dear, I'm not very good at these things. Well, here goes, and apologies in advance. I'm going to do something ME related again.
His name is shared with that of a place, But it might take him some time to tell you. Kind hearted, but sometimes ferocious, Of his kind there are only a few.
OK, sorry about that, but it was the first thing I could think of. It is a person, if you didn't guess.

Nope, it wasn't Gandalf. I'm going to give a clue as this seems to have proved difficult for everybody (although I thought it was really obvious). He is very old.

I didn't know Treebeard was the name of a place... anyway...
Middle-earth Creature (specific one):
I soar in the air 'pon mighty wings, ages I've lasted, older than kings. Helpful I've been, to those on a quest, happily returning to my lofty nest.

Is it an eagle called Gwaihir, by any chance?
(Oh, regarding my riddle, Treebeard in Elvish is Fangorn, which is his alternative name, and also the place where he lives)
