OK I'm not as talented as some of the people who have already posted, as they seem to just spout poems out, but here's a poem I wrote a couple of years ago.
A Different Kind of Sailing Your battered boat has sunk down, Never to sail again. I'll remember you with honour, Guard and cherish your name.
I bring back mem'ries of your jokes, Gaze at your merry face. There is no-one on the earth Who can ever take your place.
Your fire still burns within me, An everlasting flame. Death cannot sep'rate me from you; You'll always be the same.
Please stay with me always, Protect me wherever I go. You helped me through the tempests, And still my boat you toe.
Your battered boat has sunk down But you still are the same. I'll journey with you forever, Guard and cherish your name.
(I wrote it to be included in the novel we had to write for English, as the memorial for the heroine who died.)

Fiwen, we are all talented in our own way, tis the beauty of poetry, no set way of writing it, everyone is unique. So I am glad you have decided to come and post some work here! The metaphor you have used throughout this opener works brilliantly, and the whole tone of this poem is fantastic. it has such a powerful, emotional feel to it, a real sense of never letting go.
fantastic work!
